We’re leavin’ on a jet plane….
….to DISNEY WORLD!!!!!! Catch ya next week!
Normally, the next post following the photo shoot before the church egg hunt would be, the egg hunt. Right? Not this time. When we arrived at the scene, I turned on the camera that I had been using 15 minutes earlier, and was greeted by this: CHANGE BATTERY PACK. Never fails. Ever. So, I stewed about it then found some folks to snap a few pics for me. I need to get in touch with them and see if any turned out..So..moving on. Here we are actually hunting OUR eggs that the Easter Bunny hid for us. Of course, the fur babies were all up in the middle of it all….
D. chose a classic boy themed coloring kit. The motorcycles and flames have such a nice Easter-y touch don’t ya think? We got his dye ready with water and vinegar..
Then he began to dunk…look at that boy’s technique… That one crooked hand to the side, no doubt to balance him out. He successfully dunked all the eggs without one splatter..now THAT’a what I’m talkin’ ‘bout…
I told him the longer we let his eggs sit in the dye, the darker the color would be. So, he ran off. I came back in a little later to find him like this…WHOA!!! Dude, where’s your clothes??? His answer, “I got hot Mama.”
He very quickly got all his eggs out of the dye and laid them out to dry. I told him to let them dry for a few minutes before putting the stickers on, so again, he took off. Shortly after a pirate came sauntering in the kitchen ready to decorate the eggs. I asked the pirate where my little boy was. He giggled and said , “I’m right here Mama!”
Time for egg decorating. C. choose a kit this year that used itty bitty paint rollers to dye the eggs instead of dunking them. Gave him a little more of a creative avenue.
The only problem with this type of coloring was that once he put a color on, it had to totally dry before he added another. I tried my hardest to explain that. He learned the hard way. If he touched the color while it was wet, then he left fingerprints on the other areas of the egg. You know, kinda like touching wet PAINT…
The dye was very runny so if you put two colors close together while too wet, they would run together. Learned that the hard way too…
Here he is about to the fingerprint lesson….that pink was still wet…
For all the lessons on egg painting, he sure did have some really pretty ones.
Here we go! The Classic Easter Party Games Eggs-travaganza! (Get it??) First was the Egg relay. Of course, boys vs. girls. The boys won. Two times in a row in fact, but the girls prevailed on Round 3.
The egg toss! C. barely caught it. The eggs were all UNCOOKED btw. Right after I took this pic a girl from the other team did NOT catch hers and ended up with raw egg all over her face and clothes and hands…of course all us moms were freaking out when she almost licked her fingers!! SALMONELLA…been there, done that. Don’t wish that on anyone!!!
Pinata!! That dad back there was having great fun at all the kids expense. When they would make the second swing he would pull it up real high out of reach..it was hilarious. You would think the ones watching would have eventually caught on, but they didn’t.
First one down for loot and the last one up. He scored 2 bags of Goldfish and a Tootsie Pop… By this point I was Easter Partied out. D. had been delivered to me by now so we loaded up and headed to Casa Walsworth. Well, actually we headed to a friend’s casa and laid around and celebrated the beginning of Spring Break with some pizza and crawdaddies…
Before the classic Easter Party games commenced, it was photo op time. This is C. and two of his best buddies posing for one of best buddies mom. This was the view from my lens…
Here’s the view from her lens.. Lets play a version of "Where's Waldo". Can you find the picture crazy mom in this shot? See sister over there plotting? She wants in the picture too. So, what does she do? Yep, marches right over there and plants herself in her favorite spot..the middle.
The boys however, didn’t think it was as great an idea as she did….So they launched “Operation Little Girl Cover-Up” in retalitation…
She was giggling and squealing in delight the whole time. She loved every minute of it!
One more class party…whew what a day. I barely beat the bus to the host house. The kids bolted out and got ready to hunt. The threat of rain was pretty high so they hunted the eggs as soon as they were all unloaded.
C. took off like a shot and for a few minutes I couldn’t even find him… I finally did as he was about to dart across the lawn..
Once they had twelve eggs they had to stop. So I made him pose with Sister. She’s not that tall, he squatted down.
After hunting it was time to eat. We were really worried about the clouds so the moms were trying to get everything done quickly. This class loves to have a picnic….
When the feeding frenzy was over the kids went to the front yard for some classic Easter party games. Sister however, had other ideas. Like raiding her big bubbie’s stash of candy….silly girl.
D. had his party next. They kept those first graders very busy. First they made bags to put their eggs in.
Then they put icing on cookies….
Goofing off while waiting for a turn in “pin the tail on the bunny”.
Then finally, it was time to line up for the egg hunt! On your mark, get set…
GOOOOOOOOOO! This is so funny to me. You would think by the way they all shot off like rockets that the eggs were way far off and really hidden hard.
Nah. The eggs were only about 10 feet away and laying on the ground. Each kid had twelve eggs with their names printed on them. All they did was walk around staring at the ground reading the eggs until the found theirs..
Class Easter parties were last week. Thankfully this year RA had hers a couple of days before the boys so I wasn’t running all over town again. Next year, however I imagine they will all fall on the same day again. There was quite the excitement when I arrived at RA’s party. They were all huddled around something…
…a baby bunny! They were all trying to touch it at the same time. The bunny’s response? It started to pee. A LOT. In that mama’s hands whose holding it in the pic… kinda funny actually.
