Happy Birthday Sweet Cooper! My boy is 9!
He was greeted first thing by his balloons and banner, which is standard for birthdays around here!

He then ripped into his presents..

followed by the traditional birthday donut!

Then he had a full day! We picked up special buddy Mason and partied all day! Went to Monroe for a surprise trip to the new CHUCK E. CHEESE. We met some classmates of his there too and had a big ole time. Then we headed to Maggie Moo's for some ice cream..I had a leftover gift card and we used up the last few dollars left on it. We ended his day out at the new house with a cake and fun. That's my attempt at an LSU cake with tiger stripes..stripes are not exactly easy.
Kinda sad that this was the last birthday that we will celebrate in the old house..but fun that it was the first in the new house! I will post some house pics soon. I have been holding off on that for a few reasons. I dont want to be boastful. We feel very blesssed to be moving into this house and I just want to slip in unnoticed.. I also wanted my parents to see it before I started showing pics to everyone, just felt like they should be first before any blog followers and facebook friends. The big move is this weekend and I will be busy packing this week...we still haven't sold the house we are in, but we have a few people who are interested...keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer that we sell soon!

This was our last hunt. Creepy? Not really at 3 pm. The gps pointed us to the area and our clue told us to look for "Mama not Ninny". So, that's what we did. We found it rather quickly.

The cache was nestled in this tree.

It was packed with goodies. Plastic bracelets, Mardi Gras beads, plastic animals..

and of course the log sheet.

I got ahead of myself yesterday. After we found the cache under the bridge, we met J. for lunch and then went downtown for a quick hunt at the Dixie. Never found it. We will go back for that one another time!

We left the Dixie and went home so the youngest treasure hunter could take a much needed nap! After she woke up, we headed back out.
My phone app pulled up a cache hidden in a small wooded area between two local churches. It took us a few minutes, but we prevailed!

This one was slap full of kid stuff! A book, hot wheels, stickers, bouncy balls, army men...
They had a hard time putting that one back!

Our last hunt of the day led us here.....

BOREDOM BUSTER!!
The naitives were restless this morning. There IS such a thing as too much togetherness. I made the executive decision to go on a field trip. We went geocaching! Geocache: A real-world scavenger hunt using gps enabled devicies where one finds hidden containers containing log sheets and trinkets of all kinds. The idea is to locate the cache, open it, sign the log sheet, take a trinket and leave one in its place.
The natives were pumped up about our treasure hunt..

I opened my geocache app (there's an app for that...) and it immediately located 3 caches near our house. The green dot is the cache and the red dot is us.
We drove the the location indicated on the map and began our search. Unfortunately, we were unable to find it. So, not to be defeated, I pulled up another location and we set off.

This time we hit the jackpot! We found it under a bridge in some gardens on the local college campus.

We opened it up and found all the trinkets left by other geocachers.

Then we signed the log book, put in a couple of trinkets of our own and put it back under the bridge. We went on more hunts after nap. Those pics will have to wait for another post!

Monday, July 4, 2011

We had a purty good holiday. Spent the day with close friends, ate good eats, and played. Towards evening, we came home and went here:
We got loaded up on sparklers, roman candles and firecrackers.

While killing time waiting for nightfall we devoured the sweetest watermelon ever!

Good times, good times!
