Flying High

After we rode Splash Mountain a thousand times at the four year old’s request we headed back to Tomorrowland.  The boys wanted to ride the Astro Orbiter.  It’s the tall ride that sticks up above all the others in the middle of Tomorrowland.  This ended up being quite a wait because a newly hired employee messed up the order of the lines and our line ended up being skipped.  They made up for the mistake by giving us two rides back to back.May 2012 533

I snapped this while up at the top waiting for our turn. I thought the sky looked pretty and I liked the way the castle looked in front of the pink clouds.May 2012 535

Finally, it was our turn.  Note how dark the sky is now compared to the one above with the castle!May 2012 541

All smiles and ready to launch.May 2012 542

This is another of my favorite pictures.  Normally I hate when my pictures turn out blurry.  But I really like the effect it has on this one.May 2012 545

C. ended up not liking the ride as much as he thought he would.  It leans over to the right as you go around.  He doesn’t like of leaning over.  Kinda feels like you could fall out.  I know this because I feel the same way and I also verified that with him!May 2012 548

Frontierland

Most 4 year old little girls would probably say their favorite ride at DW was something like “It’s a Small World” or  “Dumbo” or something princess related.  Not mine.  When asked what her favorite ride was, this was her answer:May 2012 506

I kid you not.  A ride with a 50 foot drop down a waterfall was my child’s favorite one.  We rode this NUMEROUS times, thanks to the fast pass system.May 2012 523

May 2012 525

This is inside at the beginning of the climb up towards the drop-off.  Again, not too worried about what others were thinking about my camera flashes….May 2012 527

This is just as we are going over the tip top and headed dooooooown.  Look how little the people are in the background..I’m tellin ya, we were way up!  As soon as I snapped this I shoved the camera under my shirt and then doubled over it so it wouldn’t get soaked at the bottom!  May 2012 529

Arrrrgh…

We ended up in Adventure Land instead, which was great because I loooove this ride..May 2012 494

Again, and I can not stress this enough: the wait times were awesome this time of year.  This is one of the more popular rides with a long and winding area to wait.  We breezed right through..May 2012 496

Land lubbers…May 2012 497

May 2012 498

It was while on this ride that it occurred to me that I might be getting on other peoples nerves with my camera flashing so much.  Then it occurred to me, I would never have to see these folks again and these pictures were for my family to remember the trip so I put the thought out of my mind.  Im talking about the strangers on the rides with us, NOT the inlaws!! SmileMay 2012 501

May 2012 502

This ride also cleverly placed a gift shop at the end so you had to walk out through it.  As you can see, we didn’t get out of there without falling victim to all the coooool pirate stuff.  Sister was NOT walking out of there without this little number.  How many times has she worn it since we got home.  ZERO.  It sits on the head of her rocky horse. She’s holding her imaginary sword and saying “AAARRGH”.May 2012 503

The boys couldn’t live without the plastic swords. They actually still play with them.  I saw one yesterday in the flower bed. May 2012 504

Taking a breather….

I’m adjusting to my new phone.  My computer guru was able to restore all my contacts and pictures.  Yay!  Still very angry at the whole situation.  When we went back to dance class a week later, the first thing I did when we walked in was to ask the recptionist if it had been turned in.  I knew the answer would be no, but I still had to ask. Then I got down on my hands and knees on that nasty floor and looked under the nasty couch.  Not there.  I knew it wouldn’t be, but I had to look.  Moving on.

By this point in our day, we were all starting to wear down a bit.  We had done everything we wanted to do on that side of the park and were heading to the other side where Frontier Land was.  We decided the best way to do that would be to take the train that goes all the way around the park.  We weren’t alone in this mode of thinking.  As it turned out, waiting for the train was one of the longer waits we were in.  At one point, some of us just took a seat on the ground.May 2012 455

The choo choo arrived at last and we all clambered on.   I told you how tired we all were.   C. barely has a smile and poor Sheriff in the background is in the middle of a big ‘ol yawn…May 2012 458

I was seated on the edge of the bench so I could snap pictures as were  moving along.  I got this cool shot as we came around a curve…May 2012 461

and I got this cool shot too….May 2012 462

Guess the motion of the train mixed with that big ‘ol yawn was too much for him.

3, 2, 1…Blastoff!

I am NOT a roller coaster fan.  At all.  But.  I like this one.   Even though I know it’s not scary.  I’m still all jittery while waiting in line!  For some reason on this trip, I got it in my head that I wanted to take pictures while ON the rides.  I guess you already gathered that.  It became a mission. May 2012 445

I obviously knew that I would not be able to take pics on this roller coaster so I got this one right as you go into the darkness.  I wish it wasn’t so blurry, but we had already picked up quite a bit of speed.May 2012 452

I’m having a hard time concentrating on this post because my mind keeps drifting back to the events that happened to me yesterday.  It’s always something isn’t? I really don’t have a cute lead in to this.  My cell phone was stolen yesterday. Just like that.  One minute I had it and the next I didn’t.  We had been at the dance studio for Sister’s weekly class.  I had been showing a friend some pictures on it.  Then all the little girls came out and I directed my attention to finding Sister in the throng of pink tutus and the clickety-clack of little tap shoes.  I got her and rounded up the boys and all our backpacks and we headed out the door to the car.  When we got home 10 minutes later, I realized I didn’t have my phone.  I began to go through all our stuff looking for it, then went out to the car to look.  After several minutes of searching and re-searching ,I began to have a sliver of panic run up my spine.  I loaded the herd in the car and we headed back to town to the studio.  When we got there I looked around on the ground in the parking lot and then went in.  I borrowed the receptionists phone and dialed my number to see if it had maybe fallen down in the couch..no luck.  It never rang.  Went straight to voicemail.  That’s not good.  I got back in the car sweating.  On the way home, everyone was extremely quiet…they knew the situation was not good.  I got home and called J.  He tried to locate it using the Find My Phone App….but that didn’t work either..it had already been turned off.  So, at that point I head over to the AT&T store.  I’m slap miserable thinking about all the pictures I had and a few little special things I had tucked behind the phone inside the case.  I find out at the store that I was not eligible for an upgrade until March.  MARCH!!  J. arrived and he wondered if he was up for an upgrade and he was!  Shew! I got the last phone in the store yesterday.  We leave  with a brand new phone and case.  Normally I would be so excited, but I wasn’t.  I was mad.  I was more than mad.   Some sorry excuse for a human being had MY phone.   I have gone over and over in my head what could have happened.  I either set it down on the coffee table when Sister came clickity clacking out and left it, or I dropped it and didn’t realize it.  Either way, this low-life individual decided it was theirs for the taking, and did just that.  We get home last night and I have no contacts in my phone and I realize that I don’t know anyone’s actual number, I always just click their name and it dials them… I sorta giggled about that.  So, if you have my number please text or call me so I can get your info. back into my phone (I’m talking to you Mrs. MN!!)  J. is gonna try to use the backup tonight on our computer and see if we can restore any of my lost stuff.  Sure hope that works!  Oh, and I still have the same number!

To Infinity….and Beyond!

So our next stop in Tomorrowland was the Buzz Lightyear alien encounter.  This was quite the popular ride. We had somewhat of a wait for this one.  Who am I kidding….we were in line FOREVER!!May 2012 435

This is what the line looked like once we got in the building..it wound around and around all the lanes.  People were packed in there.  This was more like the typical wait time that we are used to at DW.  We had only been on a handful of rides this day and were already spoiled by the short wait times.  We survived though…May 2012 437

This ride is fun to me because you sit in a car with laser guns and shoot at targets.  Everything is glow in the dark too.  Once the kids , and adults got out of their bad moods from the wait, it was a great time!!May 2012 442

At the end of the ride, you walk into a gift shop.  Isn’t that handy??? In this well placed gift shop filled with anything and everything Buzz, one can jump into a pretend jail with the Evil Emperor Zurg.  The boys took full advantage of this opportunity.  Sister would have nothing to do with it.May 2012 443

Went to the clinic Monday to remove stitches and let the dr. take a gander at the swollen lymph node. It’s nothing to be alarmed about she said.  Probably his body trying to fight off allergies.  Went back today.  What for?  Two words:  FLU  SHOTS.  I’m such a glutton for punishment…..

Start your engines…

We made our way to Tomorrowland and the Speedway.  This is one of the rides I have never been on before.  When I was younger, racetracks never interested me. Now that I have two little boys who love anything to do with cars, racetracks interest me…sort of.  Anyway, we walked on up and got in a short line and waited a few minutes.

May 2012 412

May 2012 415

C. was my driver.  He loved every minute of driving around. These cars don’t go very fast and they also ride on a rail, so there’s no way for them to crash.May 2012 423

J. got to ride with D.  He seemed to enjoy it too.  Sister was sitting in J.’s lap during our time on the speedway.May 2012 428

As if we have not had enough medical drama in the past two weeks, today I will be taking D. to the clinic because he has what appears to be a swollen lymph node on his neck.  Wonderful. No fever as of now, but it is bothering him quite a bit.  Today is also the day he should have his stitches removed. Sister is finally over her bug too and thankfully no one else has come down with it.  Sure hope I didn’t just jinx us….
