We made it back. We ended up not going to N.O. due to the small fact that our hosts came down with the stomach virus....eww. So, we headed to Dallas instead. We got all packed Friday morning and loaded up, set out on I-20 and then got stopped by traffic. Cars lined up as fas as we could see....we sat there a bit and then Jamie noticed there were cars turning around in the median, so we followed suit. We proceeded to take the Grambling exit and dive on hiway 80 to the next exit. Wellllll...as we got a bit closer to the exit we got stopped by a train, a lONG train, that was going forward, then STOPPED and began to go backward. Cars lined up.... It finally moves out of the way and we get through. We come around the curve from that long tain wait to find this....
It really doesn't get any better than this...a cattle truck trying to round up a renegade...complete with dogs running amuck on the hiway! Again, cars lined up. We get through this and head to the exit only to find they closed it too...so we turn around again and head back to hiway 80 to take the Simsboro exit. We get to that one and find it's CLOSED too....UGH. You can't begin to imagine the frustration that has set in. We finally asked a deputy and he said the next exit was open for sure. So back to Hiway 80.. and this is how we spen the next hour and a half...
Shall I say it again? Cars lined up......On a normal day, going to Arcadia from Ruston takes about 15 minutes..it took us alomst 2 hours!! Of course when we left that morning, we were going to get to Dallas BEFORE rush hour. Well, guess what....
CARS LINED UP....
